Description: This case study focuses on the COVID-19 management initiatives of the University of Newcastle (UON), Australia. It follows a chronological sequence in line with the unfolding of the pandemic over a period of two and a half years and discusses the management strategies concerning students, staff, government policy, and innovation. The University’s response helped to reduce financial impact, support staff, and student welfare, and produce long-lasting innovation. This case study demonstrates many lessons learned that could inform other higher education institutions in times of major disruption.
